FAQ
Do Rheidon Tech chargers have RCD protection (residual current protection)?
All Rheidon Tech chargers are equipped with Type A + DC 6 mA, with protective conductor monitoring.
Why does the Rheidon Tech PC100 charger provide a safer charging experience? What specific safety features does it include?
In addition to standard protection features, the PC100 is equipped with NTC temperature monitoring at the end of the plug. If abnormal temperature conditions are detected, charging will automatically stop and only resume when the temperature returns to a safe level, ensuring the protection of the entire charging system.
Why does the Rheidon Tech charger need to test the ground circuit?
In real installation conditions, not all electrical networks are grounded. Especially in areas with high safety requirements or in permafrost regions, isolation transformers are used to eliminate the risk of electric shock to terminal equipment.
In order for the Rheidon Tech charger to work in such areas, ground detection can be disabled. This functionality is also useful in networks where ground cannot be detected (e.g. in Norway).
What connection cable (wire cross-section) should I use with the Rheidon Tech charger?
A circuit breaker (MCB) protects the wiring by automatically shutting off the circuit when the current flow is too high, preventing overheating or damage.
Recommended cable sizes depending on maximum current and installation method:
For a maximum current of 32 A:
6 mm²: Surface-mounted cables (not buried in walls)
6-10 mm²: Cables installed in protective tubes
10 mm²: Cables buried in insulated walls
For a maximum current of 16 A:
2.5 mm²: Surface mounted cables
4 mm²: Cables installed in protective tubes
10 mm²: Cables buried in insulated walls
Important notes:
The final cable cross-section must be determined by a qualified electrician, depending on the specific installation conditions.
Electricians must also consider the simultaneity factor, which assumes that the wire is operating at maximum continuous load. This factor is essential for correctly sizing the cable.
How to set charging parameters for electric vehicles? Why does charging speed vary?
For the Rheidon Tech 22 kW charger, the current can be adjusted between 6 A and 32 A.
For 3.6 kW and 11 kW chargers, the current can be adjusted between 6 A and 16 A.
The power can be reduced manually if necessary.
To use the charger at full power:
The 22 kW charger requires a 32 A fuse.
The 3.6 kW and 11 kW chargers require a 16 A fuse.
Important notes:
The vehicle's on-board charger (OBC) is what determines the maximum charging speed.
Each vehicle model supports different AC charging rates, which may limit the actual charging speed.
Higher current (more amps) allows for faster charging, but lower current can be more efficient, helping to extend battery life and stabilize the electrical grid.
The actual charging power may be limited by the vehicle, even if the charger supports higher power.
